Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Hi parents and students! I hope that you all are enjoying the holiday break. I know that I am! Lots of time to catch up on housework, spend time with the animals, read, and watch Christmas movies :) Parents, I will be giving students the January Scholastic book order forms shortly after we get back to school. If you would like to go ahead and place your order on line feel free at www.scholastic.com ! I will be placing an order from the Lucky January catalog and the Firefly January catalog. You are also welcome to shop the $3 and under section or Club Shop at anytime. The classroom activation code is the same as always. If you need the activation code please e-mail me and I will get that to you. Again, I hope that you and your family have an AMAZING Christmas and new year!

All Aboard.....The Polar Express!
Wow, what a great time we had in reading today! We read The Polar Express by flashlight while drinking our hot cocoa just like in the book. Then we started our Polar Express summary trains which we will finish tomorrow. Also, tomorrow we will watch the movie The Polar Express and discuss the differences between the book and the movie. These activities really get me excited about the holidays! Students, please post a comment about what you would ask Santa for if you knew that you could have anything in the entire world! I am really looking forward to reading your comments :)
P.S. 1 and a half more school days until Christmas break!!!!

Great job and poll results
Hey students! Great job on the Here's My Dollar post. You all are correct! To persuade someone means to try to get someone to do something that you want them to do or to feel the same way as you do. I have the results from the favorite Christmas poll......drum roll please.....looks like The Polar Express is the winner! Thank you all for voting! I will be posting another poll for next week so be sure to vote! Also, I will be posting some more questions next week about our new expository article: Unique Animals of the Southwest which we will be reading next week. I hope that you all have a splendid weekend!
P.S. 5 more school days until Christmas break!!!!!

Here's My Dollar
This week we are reading the expository story Here's My Dollar. In this story a little girl persuades people in her city to donate a dollar (or more) to help care for the animals at the local zoo. I have two questions for you to answer based on what we have read this week: 1. What does it mean to "persuade" someone? 2. What is something that you might need to persuade someone about? I can't wait to read your responses!

Hello and Welcome!
Hello and welcome to my Reading and Language Arts blog! I am so happy that you visited our classroom's site and I hope that you visit often! On this site I will post what's going on in our classroom and other fun/interesting things. This is also another great way to communicate with me. I will respond to posts and/or messages that you send me. I am so happy to be back in 3rd grade! I enjoyed teaching all of the subjects to my 3rd graders last year and love focusing on reading and language arts this year. Thank you for the warm welcome back Mrs. Flores! I am enjoying working with you. I look foward to a wonderful rest of the school year.
