About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Mrs. B and I teach 3rd grade Reading and Language Arts. I LOVE my job! We learn so many interesting things in 3rd grade. When I'm not teaching I like to go to sporting events and hang out with my family. We are going to have a great year!

Stone Soup

Picture from Google images

Hi students!  This week we are going to begin learning about procedural text (or following directions/recipes) to get something done.  The story we are going to read is a fictional story called Stone Soup.  In this story people follow a soup recipe to create a nice pot of soup.  Throughout the following weeks we will be looking at lots of recipes and other directions to make sure we are following them carefully.  I know many of you have some experience following recipes and we ALL have experience following some kind of directions.
Here's my question........

What is a food that you have followed a recipe to make OR what is something you have followed directions to put together/build/create?

Go West!

Hi students!  This week we have been reading an expository (nonfiction) text called Go West.  In this we learned a lot about how and why railroads were built across the United States and why people decided to start traveling West.  Here's my question for the week:

If you were given a train ticket to anywhere in the United States, where would you like to go and WHY?

I look forward to reading your responses :)

Penguin Chick

Hi students!  I really enjoyed reading all of your comments about your Christmas break!  Let's be sure to practice those grammar skills that we learned as we write comments (write in complete sentences, capatilize the first letter of a sentence, and use a punctuation mark at the end of your sentence).  Please always be sure to answer in complete sentences. :)
This past week we read a wonderful narrative nonfiction (expository) story this week called Penguin Chick.  This story taught us many new things about penguins even though many of you knew a lot from watching movies such as Happy Feet or from watching Animal Planet (one of my favorite channels).

Here is the question I'd like you to answer:

** What was the fact that YOU found the most interesting/fun from the story Penguin Chick?

Welcome Back!

Hi students!  Welcome back to school! I hope that you all had a wonderful break!  I know that I did.  Now that we are in January, we will be studying hard to get prepared for the TAKS tests that we will take at the end of April.  You will take a math test and a reading test just like you do when we "benchmark test."  I know that if you try your best the focus these next few months, you will do an Owlstanding job on the TAKS!  Before we get to that, I'd like to know what your favorite part of your time off from school was....I'll get us started....I did many things over the holiday break from school like read, watch tv, shop, and clean house.  My two favorite parts of the break were getting to sleep late in the morning and spend so much time at home with my family. Please comment about what your favorite part of the break was. I'm looking forward to reading your responses!
